This beach wedding was both unique and extra special for me. Not only is Candace one of my oldest friends, but she asked me to be a bridesmaid. So photographer and bridesmaid in one! It was a whirlwind day for me but one which meant so much.

Candace met Callum as a fourteen year old and became a love struck teenager! Their friendship lasted a short period of time and then life took them in different directions. Fast forward twenty odd years and two kids collectively and their paths crossed again. This time is was meant to be and Candace’s teenage crush turned out to be the love of her life. He surprised her with an intimate at home family engagement and the planning begun!

The couple chose a small, intimate beach wedding as Callum is a kite surfer and they therefore spend alot of time at the beach. They exchanged very special and personal vows in front of their closest family and friends in a ceremony officiated by Candace’s brother. The groom had his bride in tears after revealing a very fresh tattoo of a penguin on his foot, the same place she has the same tattoo! Penguins have special meaning to the couple because of the lifetime love the birds share.

After a few photos on the beach (Callum did well to co-operate for this!) the newlyweds joined a fun and relaxed reception. Candace’s daughter sang a song as her speech which had everyone in tears! It was the casual, special day that they both wanted. [Read more…]
