The day I met Nikita and Keegan for the first time to discuss their Durbanville wedding, I was struck by how shy and sweet they both were. Nikita was quietly excited and nervous about their upcoming day and all the planning she still needed to do. Keegan was supportive and helpful to his wife to be. After chatting for a while, they decided to have an engagement session with me. This is a great way of getting some time in front of the camera. I believe this is helpful in order to make them feel more relaxed on their wedding day.
When the wedding day rolled around, it was not a typical December day in Cape Town. There was a little cloud, a little wind and just the right amount of sunshine instead of the harsh heat. I started off shooting their soft pink decor at Rondekuil Venue near Durbanville before making my way to Nikita’s guest house. She had spent a calm morning with her bridesmaids and Mom. The girls were there for her every need and made sure she had whatever she asked for.
After getting into her beautiful wedding gown, Nikita got into their vintage wedding car and headed for the church. The couple got married in a gorgeous old church in Philadelphia just a short drive from the venue. Nikita’s mother walked her down the aisle and handed her over to Keegan who was waiting excitedly for her. They exchanged vows and rings before being showered with petals in the church square.
I really enjoyed spending time with the couple and their bridal party for some photos, the girls were full of laughs and the boys followed along. We did some portraits at the church before going on to Rondekuil where we continued the shoot.
There were sentimental speeches to start the evening before the guests had time to chat to one another and the couple. Once the dance floor was opened, the guests all joined in the fun and I left the party in full swing!
Thank you to you both for having me share your very special day with you. I will always remember it fondly. I wish you many, many years of happiness and love together.
