When a Cape Town girl marries an English ship’s captain, what better place to do it in than Langebaan! They chose Die Strandloper as their venue and opted to have their ceremony on the beach surrounded by close friends and family.
I have known Lauren for many years, I coached her as a very young gymnast, so this was an extra special day for me. She and her girls spent the night before the wedding in a lovely home in Langebaan and the house was buzzing with laughter and excitement when I arrived. Lauren had her mom and sisters by her side as she got dressed to marry the man of her dreams. I could tell how extra special this time was considering they don’t see Lauren regularly since she moved to the U.K. She was just the most gorgeous bride and I had so much fun shooting her bridal portraits, she is a photographer’s dream!
The ceremony was lovely and both bride and groom’s parents stood close by as the couple said their “I Do”s. Once the formalities were completed we made our way off for the photo session. The wind really did keep up on our toes, it was some of the strongest I have experienced! Thank you to the family and bridal party for sticking it out and eating sand while we did the group shots. I kept Lauren and Steve behind a sheltered rock for their couple session and they really were so amazing just braving the sand and cold.
The reception was filled with laughter and music and alot of food! We were served the best the West Coast has to offer in course after course of magnificent seafood. Topped off by home brewed coffee and the best koeksisters I have ever eaten!
The couple and their friends danced away in the sand as the night went on.
Thank you Lauren and Steve for having me along for this amazing part of your journey. I am truly grateful I was able to share this day with you. I wish you so much love and happiness now and forever. xx
